ぴーちゃん (♥ _♥ )

Where did the nice spring-like temperatures go? The last few days have felt like... January.

Even if I'm kinda busy this week and next, I decided to go to Meguro to see Art Cube today since I missed their live on the 31st. And for once I actually enjoyed all the bands that played. I'm amazed.

the bands:
1. Irodori
2. Venus
3. ミサ (missa)
5. AibeLL
7. Art Cube

Being a bit late, I thought we wouldn't make it to Rock May in time for the first band (and not knowing when neither Art Cube or AibeLL would come on, it stressed me a bit). But we managed to get there just as the show was starting, so I didn't miss the first band, which turned out to be Irodori. I kept losing focus though, as I couldn't help thinking about how the last indie lives of Versailles that are taking place at the same livehouse will turn out... It's so small! And there are... weirdly placed chairs and barriers, and there's no barrier in front of the stage. This will be interesting. Anyway, Irodori's music was enjoyable, but visually there are things I think could have been better. The styles of each member's outfit is so different from the others', that if you'd replaced one of them with another random visual guy, he wouldn't look more out of place than the one he replaced. It would also have been nice if the vocalist paid more attention to the fans who were standing right in front of him. He kept shouting "Ushiro, ushiro ushiro!!" (<-- ushiro means "the back", and you'll hear most vocalist shout it at least a couple of times during a live, trying to get the people standing in the back to join in on choreography etc.) But if "the back" hasn't given you any respons after three songs, they're not suddenly gonna start jumping on the 4th >_<; And he went on and on, "ushiroushiroushiro!!". Everyone around me commented on it when they were done (as in imitating his voice, making fun of him). But musically, they were good.

I've seen ミサ (missa) several times, but didn't really notice them before today. And I don't know why, cause I really like the songs they did. Some of them reminded me of a more powerful version of THE VELVET, and I'm glad those two bands will be appearing at the same event next weekend ^^ I'm still trying to make sense of the vocalist's costume. During the entire first song (which didn't have much vocal in it), he was sitting down, and you couldn't see much of his face at all. He looked like part of the setting; I kept forgetting he was there c_c He has a large hat covered with flowers, feathers and something that looks like fur. His left hand has claw-like long nails, and his body is covered with a black and red, shapeless sack thing. And he somehow pulls it off. The band's guitarist on the other hand, is weird (not in the cool way). But he plays really well, so I enjoy his solos. What I like about this band is that the instruments don't drown each other out. They're all loud and clear.

Like at the HOLIDAY countdown live, D'LORE's drummer was the guy from Seciliaルナ. But he fit in a bit more this time x) Seciliaルナ were performing at the countdown live as well, so he was dressed in his own band's costume then. I think the vocalist did a pretty good job with his part today. His voice sounded better and stronger than the last time I saw them (And he looked a lot like a late solo era Juka...Probably because of the way he had done his hair this time around). They played a new song which had a beautiful piano melody.

Before PRIMEADDICT entered the stage, the black stage curtain was replaced with a white one. They then proceeded to show us a short video projected on it. The video featured Pii-chan, the furi bunny XD  It was hillarious. The bunny was showing us how to do furi. It probably won't be possible to describe it properly here; I think it's one of those things you need to see irl for it to be funny. White fluffy thing was screaming in an extremely nasal voice, "left!right!left!right!left!right!left!right! HEDDOBAAAAN!!!!" (while demonstrating).

The time between bands playing was fairly short compared to how it usually is, so even though Art Cube was band #7, they appeared only a bit more than 4 hours after the live started. You can always tell when they're up next, with all the people dressed in moitié gathering in the pit area. But for some reason a lot of the regulars weren't there this time, so the amount of fans was a bit scarce - 15 people in the front, and maybe 5 more further back.

The setlist:
1. Pain~ Wing・・・
2. Blue Heaven
3. A got confinement
4. 失楽蝶 (shitsurakuchou)

Their set was very good. I didn't notice any big mistakes, and I think Zeta's part became a little easier for him because of how freezing cold the livehouse was. Rem is sensitive to temperature, and won't move much when it's as cold as it was, therefore relieving Zeta of having to go the the side of the stage every other minute to get her out of his face or hair. But even so, I like seeing her move around (and I don't like to be freezing during a live either), so I hope their next live at AREA on the 25th will be a bit more comfortable for both me and snake.

Lawl, Bunny. Rock May Kan... I've heard about it, but thanks for the minor description about it. I'm wondering how Versailles' lives are going to turn out there. (Why aren't they playing their last one at a bigger venue? O_o Or is May Kan bigger than I think it is?)

Oh and just something really random - I found some material on a pillow the other day that looked like the wine red with black sheer stuff Juka had on his Luxurious outfit. I got excited for a moment. XD /random

Thanks for the report! I'm looking forward to Art Cube's releases from now on. ^^ I just hope they find a way to better balance the recordings. Something always feels off when I listen to them...

It can't possibly be bigger than you think it is XD There's like 1 meter pit area, four rows of chairs, and the back area is uneven because of walls (between 1-3 meters). It's about 10 chairs wide, with the stage beeing a bit narrower.

If you ever want to cosplay, you could ask pillowmaker people where they got the material? x)

With, for instance, Versailles' songs, I enjoy them just as much recorded as on stage. But I find Art Cube's music to be much more powerful when performed live, compared to their CDs. Hopefully they managed to capture some of this for the April DVD release.

Haha, I was standing there staring at the pillow material and some people walked by and gave me strange looks. I didn't realize it was odd but when you take it out of context, it probably was really strange to see somebody standing there turning a pillow over and over. XD I'll have to go back and hunt down those pillowmakers, if only out of curiosity.

Just gotta find something with a pattern like Teru's first jacket, then my life will be complete. Well, half-complete. Finding the origins of that fabric would probably really really tough, too. D:

I can imagine Art Cube's performances to be way more explosive/awesome live. Guitars everywhere and Seth's powerful singing... it's not hard to imagine how cool the recordings *could* sound. But alas, while they're still fun to listen to, I don't think they would stack to the live performances.

There is a store in Shinjuku that used to sell the fabric of LAREINE's costumes (which were ID Japan made, like Versailles'). And I think they've had some of the fabric for Versailles' first costumes as well. You should go there whenever you come to Japan ^^

I'm so sad that I didn't manage to catch Art Cube this time round! I hope I will have better luck next time. And didn't we see Missa at AREA with Sito Magus? The hat and the claw hand sound familiar...

Yes! We did see them at AREA, and I also saw them earlier the same month :) I think I was too distracted by the guy's costume to pay proper attention, or maybe they just didn't put on a very good performance that day (I can't even remember seeing them before the 30th @_@). But they were one of the more enjoyable bands last night. Good enough for me to want their CDs, but they weren't selling any goods (>_<)

You really had bad luck with Art Cube. They do lives all the time, making it very expensive to follow them regularly when you live so far from the places they perform D:

I'm amused that the Art Cube fans wear Moitie. XD

Seth's identity is such a secret XD
