We went to Takadanobaba for a double live today:
THE VELVET was the second band playing, and it's nice to see that the front row is growing ^-^ They did a few changes today, one of which included replacing the Edward Scissorhands intro with a short intro song written by MiMi.

The setlist:

In stead of the lantern MiMi is usually holding as the curtain is drawn, containing a live candle which he blows out as the intro fades into their first song, he was using an electric one with pink/purple glass. It was attached to a long cord, and MiMi took advantage of that by swinging the new lantern around in big circles. You could see Bera being slightly nervous about being hit ^^;

So far, after they started using the polkadot theme, Bera has used the same costume, while MiMi has changed details or entire outfits for every live. But for the last couple of lives, Bera has made some changes too ^^ (You probably won't care about this description unless you go to their lives once in a while, but at least some people on my f-list do.) MiMi was wearing a unsymmetrical polkadotted shirt with a rose attached to the collar, a short black onepiece and his usual tights. But instead of the pigtails, he had braided the hair on the left side of his head and put it all up into a huge bun on the right side (With all the regrowth after perming it last winter, it's starting to turn into a mess.) I'm also starting to suspect him of losing his glasses (Probably forgot them somewhere?). Both today and last time he's wearing a different pair, without the chain accessory. These ones look a lot more like the kind you'd have as a spare pair. And because of them, he couldn't wear his polkadot eyelashes today. Strange seeing him without the fake lashes again. Bera was wearing polkadotted tights today as well for the first time. The exact same kind that me and mrs_fujiwara were wearing at their previous live x) And, I was extremely surprised when I noticed his necklace. It's one he used back when they were still called Velvet Eden. I never expected to see a part of any of those old costumes on stage at this point.

Art Cube....

W T H happened?

This was the first Tokyo live since their Europe tour (The previous one was October 2nd), but they did a live in another city last week, and according to a couple of friends who went, it was the same at that live:
There's been some serious problems going on among Art Cube fans here for quite a while now, and it has caused people, including friends of mine, to stop going to the lives. But it was never bad enough to make everyone disappear :( Me and mrs_fujiwara weren't only the only regular front row people actually in the front row today. We were the only ones at the live. The only other Art Cube fans there that I could recognize, were a couple of friends of mine who are always in the second row on Nobu's side. They were the ones going to the live last week, and could tell me that it had been the same there. And they don't have any idea what's going on either. I don't know what the rest of the people in the front were doing there today; they were not fans of the band, and seemed to simply be there to occupy the front row (There wasn't a list for reserving spots this time, and they refused to move in favour of the actual fans). The band noticed of course, and the entire performance was affected by the awkwardness of it all. If it's like this next week as well, I'll contact the other regulars and try to find out what's up.

Anyway, here's the setlist:
1. 虹化鏡 (kougekyou)
2. Pain~ Wing・・・
3. Blue Heaven
4. (new song)
5. 失楽蝶 (shitsurakuchou)

Seiji didn't mention anything new in the MC, just repeating the news of the upcoming release, oneman and the live digest DVD. (And that Europe was cold).

He also forgot to add my name to the list of reservations today. Again (>_<) He forgot mrs_fujiwara a couple of lives ago. We told him, and he promised that he would take extra care from now on... bah

It's this necklace: http://bit.ly/e1T2G (The skull and pearls)

Mayonaka no Circus is really short, and they've only used it as an intro to the rest of their performance. It has that old circus feel to it (if that makes any sense ^^; )
Yume akindo is a heavy song. It's a lot more rock oriented than their other stuff.

Last time he forgot me, he had to come out from the back stage area (メイク中, he looked really embarrassed ^^; ) to confirm I was who I said I was and that I was supposed to be on the list. This time, the girl just added my name to the list and gave me my ticket. (Both times were at AREA, so I guess it just depends on who's handing out the reserved tickets)

If they release a mini-album before you come here, they'll probably use that song as an intro track?

Perhaps AC's fans are pissed off because they went to Europe? M10M lost fans in Japan because of that too. Have a look on 2ch, perhaps you find a clue there.
Nov. 19th, 2009 03:29 pm (UTC)
I have been keeping an eye on 2ch for a long time because of the personal problems among fans, and I haven't seen anything indicating such a major change. Also, I talked to the other fans about the European tour when it was first announced, and they were excited for the band and a friend was even talking about following them there (before the organisation proved to be so bad), so I doubt that's the reason.
Nov. 19th, 2009 03:32 pm (UTC)
Well, at least that’s one worry laid to rest then.

What personal problems among the fans? Isn’t it unfair to effectively punish the band for something to do with their fan base?
Nov. 19th, 2009 03:39 pm (UTC)
There's been bad-mouthing and personal attacks online (where people can hide behind anonymity) going on for the past year. I haven't experienced this myself though, and have been treated really nicely at lives, so I'm sad this is happening to people I care about :(
Nov. 19th, 2009 03:49 pm (UTC)
That sounds a bit immature and, as I said, unfair to the band. If those doing the bad-mouthing are AC fans too, they should realise that AC will be the ones losing out if their fans are put off attending their lives.

It's not unique to Art Cube. I see these kind of things going on among the fanbases of lots of visual bands here, including harassment of band members themselves.

There's nothing I can do about this case, so I'll just wait until next week and see how things are going.

Man, what's happening with all of the latter vocalists Mana has used for his projects? Klaha's off doing his own thing, Juka's... doing his own thing, too, and now Seth's luck isn't panning out too well either with a fickle (to put it lightly) fanbase. Hopefully next week will turn out be lots better! ;o;

and aodidjfaaqeja at Seiji's "Europe is cold" comment. XD Europe is never "hot" or even "mildly temperate", just "cold". Always. x)
Nov. 20th, 2009 08:33 am (UTC)
Klaha ;_; We're still on the lookout for him.
If things are still the same next week, hopefully I can get an explanation from some of the fans who are missing. It was just weird overall how everyone's gone all of a sudden, as there hasn't been any agreement about this on the Art Cube boards, and I know some of these people don't have any contact with eachother outside the lives. So I'll wait and see if at least a few were not there simply by coincidence..

Were you cold during your trip over there some months ago?
Maybe more bands should plan their Europe tours for the summer. They always seem to take place in early winter/spring.
Nov. 20th, 2009 09:54 am (UTC)
Klaha, indeed. ;_;

Hopefully things will get sorted out either way. Have fun at next week's live!

It wasn't cold cold there because it was August, but it was definitely cooler than Georgia that time of year. I checked latitudes later and realized that Romania is at about the level of Toronto, so that explained that. O_o I guess since Europe is further north overall it's going to be a good deal colder. (Especially during the winter and spring months.)

Wow, it's so sad for Art Cube...
I was at the Paris live, and we were like...I don't know exactly, about 50 people? And Z looked so disapointed at the beginning because we were not many...I just can't imagine how sad he might have been T__T and the others members too!(I'm talking about Z because he was the only to look puzzled on Paris, but I love all of them.I really do.)
I wish I could go to the Japan's live Dx I want to support them,I love Art Cube T_T *cries* I don't want them to be sad T_T

Paris was REALLY cold when them came..and we had to wait in the cold, when they were visiting Paris è_é they don't have to complain, WE suffered, not them XD

*fangirl comment, sorry xD*

We're about 10 regular fans at their lives here in Japan, so 50 is actually quite a crowd compared to what they're used to ^^ But I suppose Z is used to a bigger number of people when he's been touring Europe with Moi dix Mois.

I heard there were some delays in France, so I can imagine people weren't dressed for waiting outside all those hours, as they hadn't expected to ^^; I was in Paris to see Versailles in early April last year, and we were freezing in that line every time the sun disappeared behind clouds. It made me wish the tickets were numbered like in Japan, so that all those hours of waiting wouldn't have been necessary..

Wow I'm really curious what's up with the AC fans. o.o
Nov. 22nd, 2009 02:57 pm (UTC)
Hey, Hi ^^
hope the reason for Art Cube fans disapear were not because they played in France... Next year they will tour entire South America, and I don't want them to lose more fans in japan :(
And I think it will be not South America only, but North America and Europe too. :((
Nov. 22nd, 2009 03:09 pm (UTC)
I really doubt it's because of the EU tour. As I mentioned above, people were excited about the news when we first found out about it; everyone happily discussing where they thought the band would travel. Also, I was talking to some of the others at the live on October 2nd about attending Thursday's live and the one last week, and nothing seemed out of the ordinary then.

(We're currently 4 fans left, so I don't think another tour could do much more harm even if that had been the cause of it ^^; I'll try to contact the others on Friday though, either by asking them directly if they show up, or by phone if they don't come)
