There were eight bands playing, Art Cube being number six. Usually we'll leave as soon as the band we came to see has finished playing, but this time all the merchandize tables would be closed until all the bands had finished playing (>_<) (There was a pre-sale of oneman tickets for AC) So there were a lot of bored people hanging around in the stairs towards the end of the night. I didn't have much interest for any of the others, except the session band Elephant Tigers. Tomozo (head of Sequence Records) did the guitar, and I found the music to stand out a bit from the previous acts, so I enjoyed it.
Kazune (keyboard) is currently sick, so he wasn't on stage yesterday. I don't know if he's out of the hospital yet, but he'll be taking a break for a while. I feel bad for him that it had to happen now, with all the lives they've got planned for this month (every week). But hopefully he'll be fine and back again soon. We brought him a get-well gift at this event, which I guess he'll receive some time today.
With eight bands playing, each set was shorter than usual. This was Art Cube's:
1. 蓮華宙 (rengechuu)
2. 失楽蝶 (shitsurakuchou)
- MC -
3. 花陽影 (hanahikage)
4. Soaring awakening
Rengechuu (...they haven't told us if this is the right way to read the kanji yet) is very different from their other songs, so it feels a bit out of place during lives. No one knows quite what to do (furi etc), and it's so different from the SE intro they used to start their performances with (ubugoe). But it's nice to hear that they (Yossy) is capable of composing varied melodies. I hope some of the other members will eventually try to write more songs too.
Seiji mentioned the release of the live-only single again, but had forgotten what it's called ^^; He said we should all buy several copies and introduce it to our grandparents as visual enka.
No mention at all about Kazune's absence, and all four of them looked like their usual happy selves, so I assume the keyboardist will be fine. I did miss him though. Fortunately it didn't coincide with Nobu's accident a few months ago, and they'll continue doing lives as planned.
Sunday is Seiji's solo live, with Kaya, Loki and amonn (^o^) I couldn't go to the previous solo live in February, and was really sad about missing their performance of songs like The Phantom of the Opera. But Seiji said they'll do songs from musicals this time around too :)
