Midnight Circus 第3怪

THE VELVET had their third Midnight Circus event (sponsored event) tonight. I couldn't go to the first one, so I can't compare it to that, but of the two I attended, this was by far the most enjoyable :D

Setlist:
1. ストリッパー (stripper)
2. 愛憎倒錯遊戯 (aizou tousaku yuugi)
3. ヴィクトール (Victor)
(Victor)

^When will we get to hear RIDE ON ME again? :/ I had been hoping they would do that song now that they had more time on stage. They've been playing kurutta yoru ni fairly often, and though I don't mind that song either, wish they would swap it for RoM once in a while (since they're both from the same single, so it's not because RoM is old that it's not part of the setlist). Anyway, I'm enjoying seijaku... more and more. It's one of the more upbeat songs.

Before the band's set started, they were playing circus music as back ground music, which was quite fitting. Then it suddenly switched to Chim Chim Cher-ee from Mary Poppins for some reason... Before the familiar intro from Edward Scissorhands started playing ^^

MiMi hasn't been doing MCs lately since it takes up a lot of time, so they've opted to spend that time on an extra song instead. So it was nice to have time for some talking tonight :) And at the sponsored events, even Bera talks ♪ I don't know if it's MiMi's dialect or what (Nagano-ben?), but for a not-completely-fluent-in-Japanese foreigner, Bera is somehow a lot easier to understand when talking, so I wish he'd do so more often. And since he pretty much never writes in the official blog, it's the only chance we get to hear his thoughts. MiMi asked him if there's anything he wants to do this year, to which Bera said he wanted to try and do another release. It would be great if they managed to release another single or something by the end of the year :)

Finally, finally, Chiro (support bass) came over to the right side of the stage during a couple of the songs :D I've been wanting him to come there forever. Bera went to the left side, so Chiro had to move out of the way, and since MiMi was in the middle, he had to go to Bera's spot on the right. And he was laughing so much ^^ It was fun to finally see more of him too since he's usually so far away. Hope they'll continue switching sides more often from now on.

Even more mess with cords, microphone, hair and fake eyelashes today, but that's just amusing *lol* This band seems to be unique when it comes to the amount of that kind of stuff going on (falling, getting entangled, losing parts of equipment etc. And today I got kicked and sat on....), but musically they put on an awesome performance. I like how one can always hear all the individual instruments - both live and on their recordings. With a lot of bands the bass tend to get drowned out :( And Bera's guitar is definitely new. Got a good look at both the front and back of it this time. It suits him and I'm happy he got it as he had said he really wanted one.

I really hope I'll be able to go to the upcoming live (´・ω・`) It's a Wednesday, and at the end of this month when I know I'll be extremely busy. If I'm lucky I can finish everything around noon and rush to Tokyo after that. If not, then at least I have the band's instore event to look forward to a couple of weeks later. If anyone's in town, THE VELVET will do an instore event at Jishuban in Shinjuku on August 15th. Talk, Q&A + handshake. Should be fun! :D

I get to wake up at five in the morning \(^_^)/ So I guess I should head to bed. It was a fun day!
