Had a nice week and a half since the fireworks on the 11th :)
Went to Sweets Paradise in Harajuku last week for a huge lunch.
Sweets Paradise is a restaurant chain that specialices in cakes, but they do have proper food as well. You pay about 1,400 yen when you enter, and then have 70 minutes to eat and drink as much as you want.
So much cake....
It's a nice place to go in the summer, since they also have ice cream which you can eat endless amounts of, and the food dishes (like pasta) are also served cold.
Went on to Ikebukuro, as we wanted to visit the Planetarium at Sunshine City. But it was full until night time, so we went on exploring the area instead, and stopped by an arcade nearby. Didn't see any upalupa or giant beetles this time, but they had UFO catchers with live frogs and fish inside.....
How is this legal?
Hope at least the air flow in there was ok... It's been really hot here lately. Tokyo is always hot and humid in summer, but there's been so many weeks with a non-stop heat wave now. Apparently more than 33,000 people have been taken to hospital with heat stroke since July 1st. Last year we were already down to 20-something degrees at this time. Though I personally prefer this heat compared to the cold of winter, so for me it's not too bad. But hope my parents who are coming to visit soon wil be fine. They've been to hot and humid places before though, so they're not completely unprepared at least!
Went to the movies again as well! This time to see the latest Madagascar movie. SO over the top, but I guess that's what made it work. I like BRAVE a lot more, but this one was ok too.
The Avangers just opened in Japan, so maybe I'll go see that next week? I'm not a huge fan of superhero movies, but I've heard a lot of good things about it from other people who usually don't have much interest for this stuff either, so I might as well check it out. Not familiar with the backstory of most of the characters though, as I never read Marvel comics.... I obviously know Thor and Loki since I grew up with those stories as a kid, but I assume they changed the originals a bit ^^;;
Before Madagascar started they showed us the trailer for The Hobbit, and it actually got me a little excited about that movie too. Any other movies released lately/soon that people are recommending/looking forward to?
Also finally got around to watching Game of Thrones. I read the books years ago, and was surprised at how well they transformed it into a TV series :) Looking forward to the third season!
Now LOTS of plans for the next week. Planning on going to the Koenji festival one of the days during the weekend. Then to the Ghibli museum, as I still haven't been there. I somehow thought it was further away, but it's actually pretty accessible. Will take the opportunity to go through the Inokashira park surrounding it too. Also got great tickets to see The Phantom of the Opera again;
I must have seen it about five times now, though not all in the same city or even the same language. Still looking forward to seeing it again :)
Also going to walk up Mt. Takao for the first time, stopping by the monkey park on the way up.
Busy but fun! :)
